How Earning Great Health is Like Earning a Blackbelt Part 1
How Earning Great Health is Like Earning a Blackbelt Part 1
Congrats to all
the Blackbelts and beyond, and to all those who earned their new belt. Krav
camp rocked this year!
It was truly incredible to see Shihan Kyle fly through the air with his
bow, and Sensei Sarah move the nunchuks like lightning.
As for Shihan Harley his sheer excellence with the sword was
unparalleled. I felt like I was at a Cirque du Soleil show watching these
incredible feats.
The advanced blackbelt speeches were awe inspiring, as were the talks
from the other blackbelt candidates. Full of wisdom (and tears), they made me want
to be a better person.
Remarkable that many of these future leaders are just still in school. I
am excited to see what they will become.
Grandmaster Steve breeds a culture of excellence at KMMA.
It’s in everything he does, just look at the student creed, and his leadership
program. Currently he’s building a master’s program, whereby he’s leaving his
legacy.
First you LEARN these principles, then you UNDERSTAND them,
and then you LIVE by them.
What’s more important than YOU and YOUR family’s health?
How can we do anything GREAT without a healthy body and mind?
So, what does it take to earn Phenomenal Health?
1.Focus
2.Respect
3.Discipline
4.Confidence
5.Gratitude
6.Vision
In this blog, we will discuss the top 2.
Imagine Focusing on your health daily and prioritizing it. Doing
one thing every day to improve your wellness! Yes, like showing up to Krav at
least twice a week or eating one more vegetable. 😊
Respect your body. It’s the only one you have. What if you
put garbage into your body MOST of the time (i.e., candy, soda, fast food). How
does it react?
True when you are young, you may have reserve, but what happens to most
people as they mature? They can gain weight, and get sick, and take longer to
recover, or have more injuries. What habits are you building?
Instead, what if you put another fruit or vegetable in your body, or
drank more water? How would your body feel?
Did you know, studies show only approximately 10% of
Americans get even 5 servings of fruits/vegetables a day (the recommended
guidelines are 8-10).
In an observational
study published in Circulation, adults who consumed five servings of fruits and vegetables
each day were less likely to die early – specifically, they had a
lower risk of overall death and from dying of cancer, cardiovascular disease,
and respiratory disease.[1]
Are you up for a Challenge?
Eat 5 servings of a variety of whole vegetables a day for one
week (nothing fried and no juice). Each serving is ½ cup. Submit your 1st
week by Oct 31st to be entered into a random drawing to win a $100
gift card.
If you want more of a challenge, then complete this for 30 days
and submit that form by Nov 30th for a chance to win another $100
gift card.
