5 Simple Steps to Improve Your Vision
5 Simple Steps to
Improve Your Vision Meet Lori, she is 74. She needed glasses
since she was eight years old. “Since
I've been practicing Dr. Gold’s eye exercises, I rarely use my glasses.” Good eyesight is needed to do many important
things including driving and enjoying a beautiful sunset. Our eyes are one of
the five major sense organs. In the United States, 64% of the adult
population use prescriptive eye wear.[1] Unfortunately, for many their vision is
declining earlier than ever. According to Dr. David Eppley, a clinical
spokesman for the American Academy of Ophthalmology when gen xers were young
in the 1970s only about 20% of children in the United States needed glasses.
Now that number is closer to forty percent.[2] What's the problem?
Screen time.
The problem is our eyes need a break. The
glare from the screen can irritate our eyes and some folks stare at their
devices, rarely blinking, which can dry out the eyes. Furthermore, if we don't look away or
stretch out our eye muscles, they can become strained and easily fatigued. The Solution
3.Protect your eyes with good
sunglasses. Make sure they have 100% UVA\UVB or UV 400 protection on the
label. You can get your sunglasses tested for free at an eye center. Here's a good brand, J + S premium military
style classic aviator sunglasses, sleek and sporty like in Top Gun, that
won't karate chop your bank account ($18).[5] Don't look at the sun as this can burn your
retina (back of the eyeball that helps you perceive a visual picture). 4.For your devices get protective screen covers that can reduce glare and try to keep the
device at least an arm’s length away, and at eye level to reduce neck strain.[6] You can also get special eyeglasses for your
devices. 5.REST your eyes. Take breaks as
stated earlier, but also get enough sleep. Spend less hours on your device. Set
some timers so you don't get distracted scrolling through social media or
playing endless hours of video games or getting lost in Cobra Kai! Hang out with mother nature (without looking
at your phone. I’ve seen folks hiking while continuously looking down,
missing the beauty around them). It's fine to listen to some music if you
need to or take your device for safety reasons but make a conscious effort to
enjoy the landscape. You can practice Krav Maga, play some
basketball, go for a nice hike, get to the beach, go to the pool, or do some
other healthy activity. An eye pillow is a nice way to block out the
light and rest your eyes. Get your FREE one, when you take our
challenge. Simply track how long you stay on your devices on a typical day
and send in a picture of you looking at your screen. Text Drew 813-226-7630
