Your Memory and Slow Decline! 🌟💡
According to a recent study reported by NPR,
a multivitamin supplement could have a positive impact on memory and slow down
cognitive decline.

can supercharge your brainpower! 🧠✨
They used Centrum Silver in the study, which
I am not a big fan of as it has talc and dyes (i.e. Red 40 Lake) and is sourced
from synthetic ingredients. In addition, the types of vitamins used are not
highly absorbable i.e. calcium carbonate vs calcium citrate.
Centrum products are manufactured by the drug
company Pfizer-GSK in a chemical plant in Suzhou, China.
Instead I like to choose high quality, highly
absorbable vitamins, sourced from whole foods when possible. I like them to be
purity and potency tested showing they have the active ingredients, without
concerning fillers or major contaminants or heavy sugar.
Personally I use a liquid multivitamin (VM
100 Daily Multi from Buried Treasure) as I am tired of taking pills and feel
the absorption is better. As for some good brands, I like Douglas labs,
Kirkman, Metagenics, Designs for Health, Pure Encapsulations, Standard Process
as I found them to be of high quality.
Another smart idea is to check your
nutritional status, so YOU are NOT Guessing what YOUR BODY NEEDS. You actually
find out. We use Genova Diagnostics (gdx.net) to
do this.
I also like to do a gut study test, to make
sure my patients have a healthy gut to absorb their nutrients and help them get
off meds that could block good absorption- antacids, H2 blockers, PPIs, NSAIDs,
Steroids (ie Tums, Omeprazole, Zantac, steroids, Advil etc) when possible.
Lastly, we know the soil of many crops are
depleted of rich nutrients compared to the past. You would have to eat 8
oranges to get the same amount vitamin A our ancestors received from 1. Of
course, it's better to eat fruits and vegetables than junk food.
But that's why it's so challenging to get all
our nutrients just from food (even more imperative when a person is living on
junk food). That's why I have so many patients on supplements, especially after
we test them and know what their bodies need.
It's rewarding to have them FEEL
BETTER. 🙂
