How to Look Younger (Part 2 of 3)

Natural Beauty Since our skin is our largest organ (did you know that!) what you put on it matters! Even topical products, like certain makeup [1] can contain ingredients like talc, which dries up the skin and reduces collagen (which is what we need to help us look younger). Makeup may also contain parabens (which are hormone disruptors) which can affect fertility and increase one’s risk for cancer. [2] Collagen gives skin its elasticity and makes it look youthful. It diminishes as we age [3] , [4] . But you can also slow down the process by eating better, exercising (yes, time to head to Krav for a great workout, at least twice a week!), and by using healthier products. Below are some examples. Fortunately, we are blessed to have many natural beauty products out there (containing less harmful chemicals). I like the following natural brands: 1.       Mad Hippie 2.       Thrive Causemetics 3.       Aubrey Organ

Are your cleaning products making you sick and fat?

Are your cleaning products making you sick and fat?   Obesogens are chemicals that can disrupt hormones, increase one’s risk for cancer, allergies, headaches, and fatigue, and of course lead to obesity. These chemicals get stored in the fat, and the body holds onto the fat so the chemicals don’t leach out. Detoxifying your body, along with reducing your chemical exposure, can help one lose weight. Obesogens are found in common everyday products, like Lysol, Clorox bleach, and Febreze. We may not think that what we breathe in matters, but it does! I’ve had patients tell me Clorox bleach and Lysol “smell clean״. I hear you! I used to think the same thing. Then I became highly allergic to these harsh chemicals, to the point it affected my breathing. What is your largest organ? Correct your skin. These harsh chemicals can penetrate the skin and become toxic (especially to children and animals). If ingestion occurs Poison control should be called immediately. Did you k

Dr. Gold’s Favorite Immune Boosters - Part 2 As part of the Black Belt Leadership Training program, I feel honored and privileged to share my regiment for staying healthy during this COVID-19 pandemic (and for the many years prior). I used to get sick all the time and now I rarely do. A healthy mind set coupled with great workouts from Krav Maga, and my sacred secrets (as listed below) can be a game changer. Also remember the importance of good nutrition, adequate sleep and taking “ME TIME!” 1.Moisturize To get sick, an organism (or bad bug) must enter the body. It’s a lot easier to enter if the skin is dry, which leads to cracks and openings. So, moisturize especially inside the nostrils and lips. I try to stay away from Vaseline because it’s made from petrochemicals (derived from crude oil) and instead I use bee’s wax. May also consider Booda butter, coconut oil, jojoba oi, shea butter, and vitamin E oil. 2.Adequate hydration Drink Filtered Water (with electrolytes)- S

How to Look Younger (Part 1 of 3)               Can you guess these folks’ ages? Text me at 813-468-0905 with a response for a Cool PRIZE if you guess correctly. Drew is to the left, SiNae in the middle and I (Tanya) am to the right. Who doesn’t want to look younger and feel better! With that in mind, how do we age? There’s cellular damage that occurs when our own cells divide more rapidly and finally die off.   The cells can be affected by genetics, but more importantly there are extrinsic factors (namely our environment that can trigger accelerated aging i.e., stress, smoking, drinking, junk food, and caffeine [1] ). Yes, too much coffee can do it. Coffee dehydrates our bodies and slows down wound healing. It can also cause toxic buildup, inflammation, and collagen loss. This can lead to redness, acne, and wrinkles. Furthermore, if you consume energy drinks (e.g., Monster, Red Bull), or drink too much coffee, you may co
