How to Look Younger (Part 1 of 3)

Can you guess these folks’ ages? Text me at 813-468-0905 with a response for a Cool PRIZE if you guess correctly. Drew is to the left, SiNae in the middle and I (Tanya) am to the right.

Who doesn’t want to look younger and feel better!

With that in mind, how do we age?

There’s cellular damage that occurs when our own cells divide more rapidly and finally die off.  The cells can be affected by genetics, but more importantly there are extrinsic factors (namely our environment that can trigger accelerated aging i.e., stress, smoking, drinking, junk food, and caffeine[1]).

Yes, too much coffee can do it. Coffee dehydrates our bodies and slows down wound healing. It can also cause toxic buildup, inflammation, and collagen loss. This can lead to redness, acne, and wrinkles.

Furthermore, if you consume energy drinks (e.g., Monster, Red Bull), or drink too much coffee, you may consider a healthy substitution. I like Teecino. It’s coffee flavored tea, that can give you a natural energy boost from nutrients, not stimulants.

In addition, too much processed sugar ages our skin due to glycation.[2] This is where sugar in the bloodstream binds to proteins, lipids (fats) and DNA, forming harmful new molecules called AGEs (advanced glycation end products). In essence, chronic high blood sugar, like in uncontrolled diabetes, can lead to accelerated aging.

So, if you have a sweet tooth check out my Wellness Wednesday: How to Curb your Sweet Tooth in early Dec 2021.

The good news is we can control what we put into our bodies.

In addition, activity helps us look younger by improving blood flow and building strong muscles. So, get to Krav at least twice a week and MOVE daily, STRETCH & RELAX. It does the body good!
