How Earning Great Health is Like Earning a Blackbelt Part 2

Happy Halloween! Have you considered giving out Toys as treats because YOUR child is already Sweet! Check out the Switch Witch below.

Congrats again to all the Blackbelts, and to all those who earned their new belts. Krav camp rocked this year! See last week’s blog.

Grandmaster Steve emphasizes Blackbelt excellence in everything we do. This extends to our health because how can we do anything GREAT without it?

And honestly what is MORE IMPORTANT than YOU and YOUR Family’s Health?

By applying Grandmaster Steve’s blackbelt foundational superpowers depicted in his book, Developing Your Superpower: Meditations on Mastery, you can apply blackbelt excellence to YOUR Health. Here’s the list. The first 2 are in the previous blog.

1.Focus

2.Respect

3.Discipline

4.Confidence

5.Gratitude

6.Vision

Do you have the Discipline to get healthier? We all do. It’s just through continuous practice, just like the skills we learn on our way to becoming a blackbelt.

Truth be told, that’s why I rarely buy junk food, so it makes it easier to eat better.

Furthermore, I have my Krav bag packed in my car and decide each week which days I am going and usually show up, even when I don’t feel like it (because those are the days, I need it most). I have never regretted a workout.

Confidence. Do you believe you can do this? First know you’re not alone. Dr. Gold is here to help you. She works with YOU, wherever you are at, to personalize and customize a wellness program to meet YOUR needs.

As a Holistic MD, she can order medically necessary labs, including early marker tests for your gut, hormones, and check for mold, allergies, heavy metals, and evaluate your nutritional status. Moreover, she has helped patients get off prescription medication, but can prescribe this (or a more natural supplement) as necessary.

Dr. Gold also offers packages to make if affordable. Check out her services at www.dgoli.com

Gratitude. Do you appreciate the body and mind you have been given? We are all unique and have our special gifts. Appreciating and loving YOU and NOT being so Hard on yourself all the time is Key.

Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. Sensei Sarah and Shihan Harley spoke about this in their speech. Things will go wrong. That’s life. But do you give up or do you fight?

I didn’t get into medical school the 1st time, and my advisor told me I never would and should not even bother applying.

Thank G-d for my dad, he asked me, “What happens if you don’t apply?” I responded, “I will never get in”. That’s right.

You’ll miss 100% of the shots YOU don’t take.

I worked harder, applied again, and got in. I was determined and appreciated this opportunity to grow.

Hand me a challenge and let me see what I can do. My entire life, I have always had to work hard, athletically, and academically (and have never been called a natural).

What saves me time and again is my GRIT and work ethic. I refuse to quit, and I always want to learn more, do better and BE Better.

For the most part, I am not afraid anymore to ask (what may seem like) dumb questions or to let someone else know I don’t something (even though I am a doctor) or embarrass myself (like I may do when I recite the student creed).

When you push yourself hard enough, you will likely make mistakes. Looking at this from a different perspective, you can consider these opportunities for growth. Typically, I learn so much more from what I didn’t do well at, than from what I did.

What can YOU do to raise the bar for YOURSELF. Remember not to compare yourself to anyone else and ask yourself, what will have the most impact on Improving my health and do that.

Create a Vision board (as we do at KMMA) and look at it daily. This helps you see your target and identify whether you’re getting closer or further away. What happens when you set short and long-term goals, and do something every day towards their attainment?

Learn these principles, understand them, and as you become a Blackbelt You Live by them.

That’s my goal for YOUR Health. You learn to Master these principles over time, as they become habits (and eventually automated) as YOU LIVE By Them.

YOUR HEALTH & YOUR FAMILIES HEALTH MATTERS!
