DIY Sugar Scrub
DIY
coconut oil and brown sugar scrub with dried flowers
Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup solid coconut oil
- 1–2 tablespoons dried flowers, such as rose petals or lavender buds
- Optional: 1–2 drops of skin-safe essential oil (if you want more
fragrance)
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients. If your
coconut oil is fully solid, soften it by running the jar under warm water
until it reaches a soft, peanut-butter-like consistency. Gently crush the
dried flowers to break them into smaller pieces.
- Combine the ingredients. In a
medium-sized bowl, mix the brown sugar and softened coconut oil until they
are fully combined, creating a "wet sand" texture.
- Add dried flowers. Stir in the
crushed dried flowers and essential oil (if using) until evenly
distributed.
- Store the scrub. Transfer the
scrub to a clean, airtight container, such as a glass mason jar.
How to use and store
- To use: In the shower, scoop out a
small amount of the scrub and massage it into your skin using gentle,
circular motions. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. The coconut oil will
leave your skin feeling moisturized and soft. Be careful, as the oil can
make your shower floor slippery.
- Storage: Store the scrub in a cool, dry
place away from direct sunlight. To avoid contamination, scoop the product
out with dry hands or a clean utensil. With proper storage, this scrub can
last up to six months.
