1.    Congestion:

a.Rest and drink plenty of water i.e. 100 lbs = 100 oz

b.Use a humidifier by your bed/work space/car if possible

c.Warm/hot showers (safely)

d.Mucinex DM 600mg (cough) or plain Mucinex 600mg (congestion) one                 to two tabs twice a day

e.Sudafed or phenylephrine (with no high blood pressure or other contra)

2.  Cough:

     a.Olbas menthol cough drops or Fisherman’s Friend cough drops or Ricola Max Throat Care cough drops (honey lemon)

b. Buckley’s for a bad cough (cough syrup from Canada)

c. Raw local honey (1tsp as needed).

3.  To Boost your immune system

a.Vitamin C capsules 1-2 grams daily or EmergenC (powder) 1 pack every few hours (up to 3-4 packs per day as tolerated or can do Vitamin C capsules from Pure Encapsulations (liposomal form for better absorption)) (EmergenC lite if you have high blood pressure or diabetes). Remember too much Vitamin C can lead to loose stools, so just reduce the dose if that occurs.

4.  Allergies/Runny nose

a.Antihistamine (i.e. D-Hist or Quercetin or Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec (may make you drowsy))

5.  Limit dairy products.

6.  Use Beeswax inside nostrils.

7.  Apple Cider Vinegar 1TBS in 8oz of water with raw local honey. If you have postnasal drip, sleep a little more upright. If possible, may use the humidifier at work or in your car.  *Of course, use the humidifier when the air is dry. If it’s too humid, try a dehumidifier. I also like a HEPA filter and ionizer to clean out the air.

9.             8.Essential oils (can use through a diffuser): Breathe & Peppermint (helps congestion) and Onguard (boosts the immune system). Can obtain from our website: dgoli.com under products, Doterra. *Avoid eyes

1        9. If you’re not lightheaded or dizzy or vomiting, ok for activity as tolerated. I actually like to go for a gentle walk as it gets things moving. Ok to exercise as tolerated. I actually feel better.

11     10. Sore throat: Humidifier for sore throat and congestion. Have the humidifier by your head when you sleep.  Gargle with saltwater 1/2 -1tsp of sea salt in 8oz warm water. Gargle for 30 seconds & spit out. Do this at least 3x/day to help ease a sore throat. This can help reduce inflamed tonsils. The salt will pull the excess fluids from the inflamed areas and help get rid of the bacteria or virus that is there.

        12.Immunity Drink (may adjust amounts for taste & use the ingredients you have)

1 cup Pomegranate juice

1 cup filtered Water

1 Tbs Turmeric

1 oz (2 TBS) Apple Cider Vinegar

1 dropper or 1 TBS Ginger

1 drop Cayenne

1 oz (2 TBS) of Lemon juice

1-2 tsp raw local Honey for cough or to sweeten
