Managing High Blood Pressure Naturally

Managing High Blood Pressure Naturally

Do you suffer with high blood pressure (hypertension)? Wouldn't it be nice to get off your meds or drastically reduce what you're taking? I have patients who do.

So it IS POSSIBLE and there is hope. Remember YOU ARE NOT a Disease!

If you have a family history of hypertension, does that mean you will automatically get it? No, not necessarily.

Having a gene for a disease does not guarantee you will get the disease, especially with chronic diseases.  Many of these are lifestyle driven, meaning HOW YOU LIVE matters MORE than just what you inherit.

For example, my patient Tim (who is in his 60’s) has a family history of heart disease and high blood pressure. Through his great attitude, and consistency of staying active, eating better, and practicing relaxation, he has been able to stop taking his blood pressure medicine. He has also lost over 30 pounds and his blood pressure dropped from 158/107 (in July)  to 117/78 (7 months later).

Here are some natural remedies to lower blood pressure:

1.Magnesium glycinate

2.Beets (nitric oxide)

3. Omega-3 fatty acids

4.L-theanine (Suntheanine brand) or Cortisol Manager (which contains L-theanine) helps manage stress

5.Joy: Laughing for 15 minutes can lower blood pressure (by stimulating the Parasympathetic Nervous System and reducing Sympathetic tone)

6.Stay Active Improves blood flow, and reduces one's risk for heart disease

7Meditation

8.Reframe the situation, so you can FEEL BETTER. How can I grow? This is what I learned

9.Forgive to forge forward. Otherwise you give the person or circumstance power over YOU. Forgiveness is FREEDOM. This does not mean you condone what happened or feel it was right. The forgiveness is so you can heal. Remember YOU GET to DECIDE!!! Otherwise, anger, resentment can lead to rage or feeling stuck, depressed, stressed, overwhelmend or anxious, which can RAISE Blood Pressure.

10.DASH Diet at least 5 fruits and vegetables. Make it diverse, Different colors and include green vegetables. Ok to use Miracleberry prior (to sweeten their taste). Ok to mix greens with fruit or a little honey to sweeten.

We also minimized hidden salts (sodium chloride). The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend adults limit sodium intake to less than 2,300 mg per day – that’s equal to about 1 teaspoon of table salt. For children under age 14, recommended limits are even lower.

Beware of Hidden salt:

Did you know 1 slice of pizza can have up to 760mg of sodium?

Some sandwiches 1500mg or more

Soup 940mg

Poultry 600mg (3oz)

Healthy habits lead to a healthy life. Starting early, these habits may prevent disease in the first place.
